Glance into the project
Project
Dartmouth
Brief
Overview
Dartmouth College engaged our team at Equality to design and produce the Dartmouth Next: Great Issues New Perspectives livestream series during the COVID-19 pandemic. The project required creating a high-production, TV studio-style lecture series to remotely engage students, faculty, and alumni. Partnering with Dark Star Productions, we used professional-grade video walls, lighting, and sound to deliver a compelling remote experience. Over two months, I led the team in executing hundreds of deliverables, from dynamic video openers to on-screen graphics, all aligned with Dartmouth’s prestigious brand.
Challenges
The project demanded rapid development, high production quality, and remote collaboration. Two weeks before the launch, a senior member at Dartmouth required a significant pivot, leading to last-minute changes and extended work hours. Tight timelines, remote work limitations, and budget constraints further compounded the challenges.
Creative Vision & Execution
The creative vision combined Dartmouth’s history with modern design techniques, balancing innovative digital solutions with traditional academic values. We introduced adaptable design templates, advanced motion graphics, and high-end video production techniques, setting a new standard for virtual academic events. Despite the challenges, I maintained a hands-on approach, ensuring design fidelity and swift adaptation to last-minute changes.
Results
Impact
The lecture series exceeded engagement expectations, with increased viewer engagement rates and positive stakeholder feedback, leading to subsequent project renewals. The project strengthened Dartmouth’s reputation for innovation and remote learning, establishing a scalable model for high-quality virtual events and fostering a lasting partnership.
The successful execution of this project enhanced educational continuity and community engagement, demonstrating our ability to innovate under pressure. The experience reinforced the importance of flexibility and decisive leadership in managing high-stakes projects.
Review
Without Jo Lord and the Equality team, it’s hard to imagine Dartmouth Next's livestream meeting its visual goals. Jo skillfully integrated advanced graphics, live sets, and virtual guests into a polished, high-end production—a challenge not easily managed. His fresh designs and dynamic energy stood out, but it was his adept coordination between production, clients, and talent that kept everything on track, even with our tight deadlines.
Jo leads by example, consistently showing kindness, compassion, drive, and talent. Even under intense pressure and high expectations, Jo's steady influence made a significant difference for everyone involved.
